Urban Landscapes Productions is an independent production company dedicated to producing theatrical feature films and documentaries. The company’s award winning films have been seen in cinemas all over the world and broadcast on over 40 International TV networks. What we offer is the unique ability to achieve access, intimacy and execution of great story telling as demonstrated in our films.
The award winning "The Devil's Miner" and current film "Kassim The Dream" specifically display Kief Davidson's talent for achieving highly cinematic visuals while evoking a deeper understanding of the human experience.

Urban Landscapes productions, formed by Director Kief Davidson in 1998, is currently based at the Hollywood Center Studios in Los Angeles with additional production offices in New York City. The company is currently developing new television series and feature films.



KIEF DAVIDSON – Director

Kief Davidson is an award-winning feature film and documentary director born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. His previous film, “The Devil’s Miner”, World Premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2005 and won over a dozen awards at International Film Festivals including Tribeca, Hot Docs, Chicago, Woodstock, Jerusalem and Mexico City.  He received the prestigious DGA Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Directing, won the coveted FIPRESCI- Film Critics Award and the PBS Independent Lens Audience Award. The Devil’s Miner screened theatrically in 140 cinemas across Europe and the USA. His current film, Kassim The Dream tells the story of Kassim Ouma, former child soldier turned boxing champion of the world. This film, Executive Produced by Forest Whitaker will have its World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2008.

Kief has directed and produced documentaries for The Discovery Channel, ABC News, PBS, ARTE and A&E. As a narrative filmmaker, Kief wrote and directed the dark comedy, "Minor Details", an independent feature film starring Peter Sarsgaard and Larry Pine.

Kief began his filmmaking career in 1993 as editor on the Academy Award-nominated documentary, "Blood Ties: The Life and Work of Sally Mann." He is the recipient of two Emmy nominations for his work with National Geographic and earned the International Monitor Award for Best Editing on the journalistic film, "What's News?". Additionally, he has edited dozens of comedy shows including, Martin Short's - Prime Time Glick (Comedy Central), Comics Come Home (Comedy Central), Robert Klein – Child in his 50's (HBO) Saturday Night Live (NBC), Richard Pryor – Ain't Dead Yet (Comedy Central). Kief currently divides his time between Los Angeles and New York City with his wife Kathleen and son Liam.
